Compact Camera Housings

The majority of the large camera manufacturers produce underwater housings for models in their range which will be dedicated to each camera, therefore giving you access to the camera's full range of functions such as zoom and shooting modes. Most of the housings are depth rated to 30 or 40 metres but there are some less expensive models which are rated to 3 metres which are fine for snorkelling.

Canon Compact Housings Take your Canon digital compact camera underwater with a Canon underwater housing. Two ranges of housing are available - the AW series which are depth rated to 3m so perfect for snorkelling, and the WP range which are 40m depth rated. As each housing is designed for use with a particular model you have full access to all camera functions such as zoom, playback, power on/off etc.

Ewa Marine Compact Housings Ewa Marine's flexible underwater housings are a good alternative to a manufacturers own housing and they have a housing to fit most digital cameras on the market. As the housing is made from PVC and therefore flexible you can access the cameras controls without needed dedicated controls.

They supply housings for video cameras, digital compact and digital SLR cameras and have a huge range of accessories including strobe systems, lights, compasses, filters, conversion lenses and much more. Also, unlike Canon, Fuji etc, Olympus give their compact digital camera housings a front filter thread which means you can fit underwater colour correction filters and conversion lenses. Like Canon, Sony have two ranges - the SPK range is depth rated to 3m and is perfect for snorkellers, the MPK range is rated to 40m and more suitable for divers. Push on colour correction filters are also available.
