This is a bit weird because it can only be used in conjunction with compatible Canon camcorders and will only create Standard Def DVD's from SD files or data discs from HD files, no re-scaling or BluRay here although I believe the AVCHD files(HD)can be played back on some players (but I haven't tried). However the portability alone is worth the ?39+pp and not needing a PC to archive/backup files could be a massive advantage to some users. A pity that this unit could so easily be made 10x more versatile with a bit of common sense but good value anyway.
