Question: Will the Canon G9 housing fit the Canon G10 camera?
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, unfortunately the G10 requires its own dedicated underwater housing, the WP-DC28. It will not fit or work in the G9 housing I am sorry.

Question: I have a G9 and u/w housing. The results are very good, however, an external strobe may make things even better, especially for extreme macro and wide angle. Which of the strobes above would you recommend? I assume that you can deliver anywhere in the UK? If so how long from order? Thanks
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, personally I would have a look at either the Epoque es150 or the es230 which are both available on our website. The es150 is ideal for macro photography (with the optional diffuser) and tropical seas, while the es230 is quite powerful and is better to use in UK water or very dark dives (e.g. night dives). The Epoque strobes are very well built, very reliable and great value. We dont keep them on the shelf but they are normally available within a day or two from the UK importers.

Question: The WP-DC21 does not have a control for the dial on the G9. is this a product design flaw. Or is there a work around to control the apertures and exposure compensation and manual focus?
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, on the back of the Canon G9, top left, is a button which when held down allows you to change settings which are normally altered using the control dial by using the joypad type button within the control dial. So yes, you can still control shutter speed, aperture and manual focus when it is inside the WP-DC21 housing.

Question: Hi, I am thinking of buying the Canon G9/WP-DC21 set up. I would want to use a strobe and a friend has a Sea & Sea YS 120 that I can use. Would this be suitable? What connectors would I need to make it work? Thanks.
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, the Sea & Sea YS120 is a film strobe and as such isn't capable of distinguishing between a digital cameras pre-flashes and the actual flash, thus it fires on the pre-flash and you don't get a lit picture. Hence it is not suitable for use with the G9 and WP-DC21. Suitable strobe units would be the Sealife SL961, Fantasea Nano or the Sea & Sea YS-27DX. All of these are designed for use with digital cameras and the pre-flashes they use to determine the exposure.

Question: I have already purchased the Canon G9 Powershot + the underwater housing .... however when used for the first time underwater, I think the photos would have benefited from an external strobe. Can you please advise what accessories are available for this unit and the prices of such. Many thanks.
Bristol Cameras Answer: Your photos will defintely improve once you start using an external strobe. There are a couple of models that would be suitable, both are slave flashes that are triggered by the cameras built in flash and fire at the same time. The Fantasea Nano Single Pro Set includes the strobe, a tray, a flexible arm and a case for £175 including VAT and the Sealife SL961 is a similar system but allows you more control over power output at £210 including VAT.
