First impressions are that this filter works well to provide additional magnification. It remains to be seen if this has any negative effects on the picture quality. In terms of build quality though the filter appears to be excellent, feeling very sturdy and coming supplied with a good quality case. I believe this product will make an effective and inexpensive alternative to a macro lens for those who can not justify the expense of a new lens!
