Hi thanks for keeping us engaged
Yes I needed the plate to move from tripod to monopod quickly from stable to run and gun as i shoot video as my main dslr activity
my desire for giotto was lightweight and not expensive compared to Gitzo and treble price for the same lightweight material.
however will get a Manfrotto for two cam set up at a later date its a lot heavier for my current needs
Bristol cameras is going to be my first port of call online as you are priced the best in a lot of items I am looking to purchase.
was also pleased how accommodating BC was to me to send other items back and use the credit to purchase more suitable item.

Giottos MH658 Sliding Plate Adapter Question
Date Added: 3rd October 2009
Question: A few questions:
(1) Could this be fitted to the top of a normal tripod head (non QR type)?
(2) Can the camera screws be tightened by hand (i.e. are they wing nut type design), or is a screw driver / allen key / etc. required to attach it to the camera?
(3) Can the 3/8in camera screw be removed when not in use (i.e. when using the 1/4in screw to attach to the camera)
(4) Does the plate not cover the horizontal bubble when in use so you can\'t see it properly?
(5) Is it possible to get additional plates (preferably shorter ones)
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, answers as follows:
(1) As standard this adapter has a 3/8 inch screw on the base but this can be removed (tool provided) allowing it to be attached directly onto a 3/8 inch screw thead. If your tripod screw is 1/4 inch then we do sell a 1/4 to 3/8 inch adapter on our website.
(2) The screws which attach the camera to the plate can be tightened by hand, the screws have a fold away D ring for tightening.
(3) Both 1/4 and 3/8 inch screws can be removed if required.
(4) The bubble can be covered, it depends on where the sliding plate is positioned as to whether the bubble is obscured or not.
(5) This adapter uses the MH648 plate and I have just added spare plates to the website and they are also now listed as an accessory to the MH658. I am not aware of a shorter plate unfortunately.
