The Gittos MTL9361B is well made and a substantial tripod. I purchased it as support for a spotting scope together with a Giottos panning head. The tripod is larger than I realised and so I only need to extend two leg sections to gain a comfortable height for viewing, this is not a problem as I have more stability by doing this.I am 5'8" and the legs, can, when fully extended reach to 6';this is something to consider because when you add the head of your choice will increase the height by a further 4" or so. The legs are fully adjustable to enable you to get a level platform, a spirit level is provided to assist. This tripod serves my purpose very well and has much potential to the photographer from low level shooting to a high stable platform. I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it
