Having purchased a Canon 20D many years ago, I also bought several Hahnel batteries. I have used them in extremely cold temps (down to -20C; though they obviously don't last long, hence the need for having several) and also high temperatures (+40C) and they are still going strong after all of these years. The reduction in price compared to the Canon version meant that for the same amount of money I could always have spares (indeed have some charging whilst I was out shooting). A very dependable make at a terrific price.

I purchased a Hahnel HL-511 (BP-511A) Lithium Ion Rechargeable Battery as a second battery for my Canon EOS 40D camera. It offers a slightly increased capacity (1500mAhr compared with the Canon BP-511A 1390mAhr) and so far has performed equally as well as the Canon battery over several recharge cycles. As the cost is well under half that of the Canon battery, I have to recommend the Hahnel as an excellent alternative.
