I have always used the Canon range of accessories for my 40D but decided I would take a punt on the Hahnel 280 shutter release. I had seen numerous cheaper alternatives but they just did not appeal, if anything looking really cheap. I was not disappointed when it arrived and it does exactly what it needs to, a basic shutter release but with the 2 meter extension, it really makes it more versatlile. A light press works the auto focus with a full press giving full shutter release. It also has the locking facility incase you are going for a long exposure shot on the cameras bulb setting. I am glad I did not pay double for the genuine Canon part.

Bought this for my Canon EOS 40D and it works brilliantly. Can be used to focus and take bulb exposures. Best price from here than anywhere.

I was slightly sceptical about buying a non genuine Canon accessory. My fears have been allayed. The remote works perfectly. Half a press of the button lets the camera focus and a full press obviously releases the shutter. Keep it pressed for continuous shooting. With the camera set to bulb, just press the button and slide it forward to lock the shutter open. Pull back to release. Build quality feels okay and although its not the heaviest of duty plastic, I imagine that it will be quite serviceable. Furthermore at the time of purchase it was half the 'high street' shop price, which in itself was considerably cheaper than its Canon equivalent.

Simple and easy to use - though the shutter-lock caught me out on the first use! A well thought through bit of kit, I can see the 2m extension will be put to good use. Does what it says on the box.
