I previously had a similar product made by Minolta but foolishly discarded it some time ago.
The Hama product works in that I am able to carry and hold my DSLR (Sony Alpha 700) one handed and it then can be immediately used by bringing up my arm with camera attached. In that respect it is as good as the Minolta product. However it lets itself down in that the straps slowly become loose and need to be re-tightened. The straps just aren't thick or sturdy enough to do the job properly.
Nevertheless in view of the fact that this appears to be the only product on the market I am more than happy. It could just be a bit better.
