The lensbaby gives a 'look' and if you have seen Lensbaby pictures you will know if a Lensbaby is for you. I am liking the Lensbaby Composer so far. I like the Composer because it is easy to setup and use (I am not convinced I would live with the Muse version myself). The composer is manual focus and on anything greater than a D200/D300 up will workj with aperture priority and manual modes. For D90s and below, manual mode is usable. I have been happy with the pictures taken with the Lensbaby so far. There is a small 'sweet spot' of focus and this can be a little tricky to get super sharp but after a couple of hours playing with the Composer, I seem to have it cracked now (the trick is not to apply too much tilt). I would recommend getting the case to go with the Composer as one is not supplied. Overall I am happy with the purchase and it adds another string to my photography bow.

I have used a Lensbaby Muse - basically a fairly rigid bellows housing a Lensbaby Optic - for a while and found it to be capeable producing creative images, but difficult to use. The Composer houses the Lensbaby Optic in a ball and socket mechanism with a focusing ring. Unlike the Muse it stays in place when not held, and the focusing is much more precise, making it very much easier to use. The Composer is more expensive than the Muse but I think the ease of use justifies the extra cost.

the Lensbaby is one of these products that comes out of the blue - there is nothing else out there like it. You either love it (I do!) or hate it. The new composer is a big step forward in usability over the old model. The lens forces you to re-think the way you take pictures and makes you creative in ways you never imagined!
