Top drawer tripod that really does what it says on the tin. Ok - it might be a tad pricey to start with, but you understand why the first time you use it. Solid, reliable and reasonably lightweight. I've tested a lot of kit this year and Manfrotto takes the lead. Along with my camera of course, this is the one piece of kit I would not leave house without.

Solid tripod at a reasonable price. I'm quite tall (just over 6ft) and the extra height afforded over the 190XPPROB is handy. At full extension with ball head, the eyepiece is pretty much at a perfect level. Not really used the extending central column for gaining extra height (it gets quite wobbly with a heavy dSLR 7ft in the air!), but moving it to horizontal orientation is great for macro shots. This is quite a heavy model, but a comparable carbon-fibre tripod would be at least a hundred quid more. The extra weight can be a bonus when trying to keep things still in windy locations.

Have always dreamt of owning a quality tripod and after purchasing this and the 484RC2 head I have to say the quality of build is excellent. Only wish I'd had one of these years ago. One slight niggle though is the fact that the grub screws in the tripod platform do not make contact with the head I purchased. I have contacted Bristol Cameras and mentioned this and perhaps they can let others know in their FAQ. However this is, for me at least, not a requirement and if you looking for a very well built, quality tripod, at this price it is a real bargain. Thanks BC
