This tripod is extremely stable and built to last. This is my first tripod and I use it with a Canon 400D. I had originally looked at the Manfrotto MODO range but as I have recently moved away from the kit lens to a heavy Sigma lens the MODO range was already unable to handle the weight. New SLR users should be cautious of this before diving into the cheaper MODO – it only handles 1kg. A point to remember about this tripod over the MODO however is that you will also have to buy a suitable head. I opted for the Manfrotto 488RC2 Ball Head and find this head to be really stable which surprised me for a ‘lockable ball’. The ball can support an impressive 8kg!
