excellent for macro work where any hint of 'creep' can be a major headache. The adjustments are precise and smooth. I previously used a Manfrotto 488 ball head but this was hopeless for high magnification work.

The Manfrotto 410 Junior Geared Head is mounted on a tripod and is used to align a celestial tracking device called an Astrotrac. The Astrotrac is required to be set such that its pivot axis is very accurately aligned to the celestial pole. This in turn calls for equipment which allows for very fine adjustment in all three directions. The 410 Head does this job admirably. I have also used it for general photography, where it has proved to be more accurate and versatile than the standard tripod adjustment methods. To be recommended for this purpose.

This tripod head is virtually unique. I have used many other good quality types but the framing always moves slightly when you lock the head into position. With this head, that is a thing of the past. Fast positioning is followed by precise adjustment. Perfect for landscapes and indispensable for macro work. I cannot think of one reason why anyone would select a different head. Worth every penny.
