Date Added: 27th April 2008

Question: I currently have a Nikon 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 G. Is it worth upgrading to the AF-S VR version and what are the major differences?

Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, the main difference between the 2 lenses is the VR (Vibration Reduction) system which can be found on the more expensive AF-S VR lens. This allows you to use slower shutter speeds but avoiding camera shake. The AF-S VR version also has an autofocus motor in the lens so focusing is quicker and quieter and the optics are also improved as it uses 2 ED elements. Hope this is of help to you.
