What a wonderful toy. Quick access to GPS data and works a treat with iphoto9 on my Mac. Take a photo, download the photo into iphoto9 and location pinpoint on google map! Excellent for bird watching as no need to take notes.

Nikon GP-1 GPS Unit Question

Date Added: 6th July 2010
Question: Does the use of the GP-1 obstruct the use of the built-in flash on the D90 please?
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, the GP-1 can be mounted on the cameras hotshoe but this would obstruct the built in flash so Nikon also include a clip which attaches to the cameras neck strap and allows you to mount the GP-1 on the strap instead which leaves the hotshoe free for a flashgun if required.

Nikon GP-1 GPS Unit Question

Date Added: 28th December 2009
Question: Can the location information be viewed as OS Grid references or just Lat/Long? Also, does the unit come with any software?
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, the GP-1 records latitude, longitude, altitude and time, no OS grid references, however the Ordanance Survey website has a coorinate transformer which will give you the OS grid reference, see the link below. There is no software included, it is designed to be used with Nikon ViewNX (included with cameras or downloadable from Nikons website) and Picturetown software. There is a GeoTag button in the ViewNX software that when clicked on automatically loads a Google map showing the location recorded for that image. http://gps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/etrs89geo_natgrid.asp
