Nikon SC-28 TTL Cord Question
Date Added: 20th November 2009
Question: Is the SC-28 cord compatible with a D60 DSLR / SB600 speedlight? It seems to just connect to the D60 hotshoe and then to the SB600 hotshoe, with no additional connections needed; can you confirm if that is in fact the case? (I have seen some information in camera forums that suggests that the two arent compatible, but I cant see any reason why this would be if its just a hotshoe-hotshoe connection).
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, I have heard back from Nikon support and this was their reply:
" The SB-600 directly connected to the D60 is fine and iTTL is achievable. But when TTL remote cord SC-17,28 or 29 is used for off-camera flash photography in iTTL mode, correct exposure may not be achieved with iTTL Balance Fill-Flash control. It is recommended that you select standard iTTL flash control. Take a test shot and view the results in the monitor. In iTTL mode, use the flash panel or bounce adaptor provided with the speedlight. Do not use other panels such as diffusion panels, as this may produce incorrect exposures. "
So it is compatible by the sounds of it in standard iTTL mode not fill in flash mode.
