This is a great lens, especially when used with the image stabilisation on the Olympus E520. Great for wildlife close up work.

Physically big but not too heavy and easy to handle. Offers 140 to 600mm zoom in 35mm terms - an amazing lens for the price. Gives good performance as long as you can hold it steady at the 300mm end!

To put it simply, ideal for landscapes and wildlife. Also the cheapest online dealer who took notice of my request regards delivery instructions.

I chose the Olympus system because the lenses and cameras are smaller than most other DSLR's and the prices are extremely competative. Considering it's focal length this lens is small and light. I have not used the lens as much as I would have liked, weather has been so bad, but I am impressed with what I have seen so far. It is well built, comfortable to use and the pictures have been of good quality. You may need to switch to manual focus for low light, low contrast conditions (quite frequent of late and in any event more to do with the camera E510 than the lens) but the switch is on the lens, so no problem especially as I was brought up with manual focusing. Anyone wanting a relatively inexpensive good quality long lens couldn't go far wrong with this in my view. I love it.

I love to take photos of anything that takes my eye but with this lens it has transformed my view on the subjects. I can now take photos without intruding or scaring them off thus finding it all much less frustrating. The most helpfull thing I find is between the camera and the lens they are both very forgiving as to camera shake. The same subject at different distances are all very sharp. Just a tad heavier than I am used to but I will get used to it. Thank you.

This is a great lens, it has not totally blown my budget but has enabled me to take the photos that I want... detailed shots at a distance and some great macros. Delivery was quick and product was well packaged!

Olympus 70-300mm f4-5.6 Zuiko Digital ED Lens Question

Date Added: 1st November 2009
Question: I am looking for a panoramic lens for my Olympus E520 and also an Olympus 70 - 300mm lens - what would you recommend as being the most cost effective way of doing this? Many thanks
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, 50mm focal length is widely used when taking panaroma photos to stitch together, so if you have the standard 14-42 lens with your E-520 you can use this at approx the 25mm focal length setting (in 35mm terms this will be a 50mm focal length). If you dont have the 14-42 already then we do sell them at a great price on our site. The 70-300 is a great lens but even at it's widest zoom setting is too telephoto really for panoramic use.
