Question: Hi there, could you tell me the difference between the Pentax 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 SMC DA AL Lens and the Pentax 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 SMC DA AL II Lens - i.e. what's new on the mark II? Is it exactly the same but with a different coating... or are there other refinements?

Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, the optics have been changed, the mark 1 lens had 12 elements in 9 groups, the new mark 2 lens has 11 elements in 8 groups with 1 aspherical element. Close focus has also been improved to 25cms and the lens now has Pentax SP coatings. Hope this is of help to you.
