Wide angle zoom lens for digital SLR cameras with an APS-C sized sensor. Ideal as an upgrade to the standard kit lens. Features Sigma's Optical Stabiliser (OS) to help reduce camera shake at slower shutter speeds. Minimum 22cm close focus distance. 72mm filter thread. Comes with dedicated lens hood and front and rear caps. Sigma lenses purchased from 1st September 2010 will now come with a 3 year warranty (if registered with Sigma UK within 30 days of purchase).

A superbly built lens. It is neither too heavy or too light and balances beautifully on my Nikon D5000. Autofocus is quick and the OS seems very effective. Unlike any maker's kit lenses I have looked at, I fully expect this one to out-perform my bridge camera.

Question: Hi, do you have the data about how maximum aperture varies with the focal length?
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, I have just tried the lens on a camera and noted with maximum aperture values which are as follows: 17mm = f2.8, 24mm = f3.0, 28mm = f3.2, 35mm = f3.3, 50mm = f3.8 and 70mm = f4.0.
