Sigma 2x EX DG II APO Tele Converter Sony Fit Question

Date Added: 19th May 2011
Question: I have just purchased a 120 x 400 sigma APO OS DG HSM sony fit from you, what teleconverter can I use on this lense
Bristol Cameras Answer: As the aperture on the 120-400mm lens is f4.5-5.6, using a 2x teleconverter is not recommended, as the aperture with the teleconverter attached would be f9-11. An aperture of f9-11 would be too dim to allow the camera to autofocus, so you would be limited to manual focus only. The Sigma 1.4x EX teleconverter would be a more suitable choice, as it would give a focal length of 168-560mm with aperture of f6.3-8, which should still enable autofocus, although this can be dependent on the performance of the autofocus system in the camera body.
Sigma 2x EX DG II APO Tele Converter Sony Fit Question

Date Added: 6th November 2008
Question: Will the Sigma 2x Converter EX DG be compatible with a Canon EOS400D and Tokina and Tamron telezooms
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, Sigma EX converters are only compatible with Sigma EX series lenses so would not be suitable with Tokina and Tamron lenses I am afraid. You would have to look at the Kenko series of teleconverters as these should work fine.
