Excellent lens, fills a gap in my kit very nicely. I've only used it once so it's difficult to comment on the fine details of performance but it provides a nice bright image through the viewfinder and is not too heavy.
I'm glad I bought it.

Only just had this lens so I am just familiarising myself. I saw the limitations of my original lens(18-55mm) when I went out for a shoot with my collegue who had this lens on a Nikon camera. One shot was not easily accessible so we had to shoot from distance. The result was he got the shot and I didn't, hence my purchase. Looking forward to using it in the next few days and getting used to it.

This lens is excellent value for money - I have replaced my standard kit lens supplied with my Nikon D60 with this Sigma lens and am quickly adapting to it. Pleased with the quality -except I have to keep the lock on to stop the zoom easing out of its own accord when I am carrying it - which means I have to remember to unlock it before I use it- frustrating when you want to take a pic quickly and have forgotten to undo lock!

Good all rounder, it's a little bulky but you have to expect that with a lens with this range.
Solidly built and at a good price. I wasn't sure whether or not to go for the OS version, but I think it's helping at the slower shutter speeds.

I previously had the non-OS version of this lens and due to advancing years I was getting too many shots with camera shake so decide to upgrade.
This lens does exactly what it says on the box! Somewhat chunkier than its predecessor but not excessively so and I can now hand hold 1/8 second on 200mm
If you only have one lens this must be it.

Superb lens. Sharpness and colour performance throughout its range is more than enough for normal use with the added advantage of VR. The HSM isn't as silent as my Sigma 180 macro HSM but it's only a faint thud, felt more than heard as it clicks in. Very quick and no hunting on my D200 unless there is nothing to focus on. On a subject that is too close it stops as focussed as it can get without cycling to infinity and back.
Not wide enough at f6.3 to give properly out of focus backgrounds. AF works in light needing more than 1.5secs@f6.3 if there is a small light edge to give contrast.
On my FX it vignettes hard at 18mm to nothing at 200mm.
No faults for me and no problems with Sigma lenses for my last 50 years, so I'm thoroughly satisfied.
In context, I think the price is good.
