Sunpak PZ42X Flashgun technical information download |
- The Sunpak PZ42X runs on 4 AA batteries in a compact and light body.
- The recycle time is about 3.5 seconds.
- Maximum Guide number of 42 (ISO 100/m). This covers the illumination area with a focal length of 100 mm (when converted to 35mm film size), which is considered to be most suitable for portrait shooting. (Up to 21m).
- Compatible with TTL functions of most digital SLR cameras. Compatible with the advanced flash output control function for Canon E-TTLII, Nikon i-TTL and Sony ADI.
- Flexible bounce function. The light emission part can be moved 90 degrees upward, 180 degrees to the left and 120 degrees to the right, flexibly responding to every possible bounce shooting situation.
- EV adjustment function. The photographer's intention can be freely represented by the EV adjustment function up to +/-1.5EV. 7 steps (-1.5, -1, -0.5, 0, +0.5, +1, +1.5) can be set.
- Power Ratio is available. Equipped with Power Ratio to permit manually adjusting the flash output. Power Ratio can be set in 7 steps (FULL, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64).
- Auto Focus Assist Light supports focusing in low light situations. When shooting in the dark or dim places, the near infrared assist light is automatically illuminated to enable automatic focusing. (Activated only when focusing on central position).
- Switching function of focal length display. The focal length display can be switched between the digital display (APS-C) and the 35mm film size converted display. The photographer can check the focal length display at any time during shooting.
- TTL signals are automatically recognized just by mounting and turning on. The latest high accuracy TTL signals are recognized by just mounting this flash on a camera and turning it on. This flash ensures the accurate, optimum, and high-quality lighting.
- Angle of Coverage: Covers the focal length of 16mm or longer (APS-C size) or 24mm or longer (35mm format).
- Built in wide panel. Angle of coverage 13mm (APS-C size) or 20mm (35mm format) when the wide panel is used.
- Light up the LCD back light by simply touching button.

Question: 2 Questions: Does the Sunpak PZ42X accept rechargeable Ni-Mh batteries? Can it be made to sync with the second curtain on the 350D?
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, yes the Sunpak PZ42X does accept NiMh AA batteries but according to the Sunpak compatibility chart here http://www.bristolcameras.co.uk/images/Sunpak%20Compatibility%20July%2007.pdf it will not sync with the second curtain on any Canon EOS digital SLR camera. Question: Hi, I was just wondering would this flash be compatible with a Pentax K100D?
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, this flash isnt available in Pentax fitting so it would not be compatible I am afraid. You would have to look at either of the Sigma EF 530 flashguns or the Metz 48 or 58 AF-1 which are all available in Pentax fitting. Hope this is of help to you. |

Question: Can this work with the Fuji FinePix S9600 on the hotshoe? If not, which brands are compatible with my Fuji Finepix S9600?
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, the Fuji S9600 requires a non dedicated flashgun so the PZ42X will not be suitable. You need to look at the Metz 36 C-2 flash which is a single pin non dedicated flashgun and is ideal for use with the Fuji S9600. Hope this is of help to you. |

Question: Can Sunpak PZ42X Flashgun work with Olympus E-500 camera?
Bristol Cameras Answer: Hi, I am afraid it wouldnt be compatible as it isnt available in Olympus fitting. You would have to look at either the genuine Olympus flashguns or the Metz 48 or 58 AF1 flashguns which are available in Olympus fitting. Hope this is of help to you. |

Question: Does Sunpak PZ42X has auto (non-ttl) mode where it uses its own sensor to determine correct exposure?

Question: I am looking for a digital flashgun that is compatable with the Konica/Minolta Dynax 5D digital SLR. Is the SunpakPZ42X or PZ40X suitable.

Question: Ive got a Canon 10-22mm EF-S lens (16-35 35mm equivalent) - will the PZ42X wide panel cover most of this range? Thanks.

Question: I am interested in buying a flashgun and teleconversion lens adapter of something like 2.0x or 3.0x for my camera,which one of the flash guns of some other companies than olympus do have that can be used with a Olympus E-500 DSLR, other than the olympus FL- flashes.
Bristol Cameras Answer: The only other company, apart from Olympus, to produce flashguns in Olympus fitting is Metz. Their Metz 44 AF4 flashgun is a popular alternative which is available on our site. Hope this is of help to you. |
